# What is VoxBot?

Learn what VoxBot does, how chat-controlled TTS reaches your stream, and which voice, moderation, playback, and tipping tools are available.

VoxBot is a browser-based tool for adding interactive audio and viewer support to a live stream. It turns chat messages into speech, gives you control over which messages can play, and keeps the setup in one dashboard.

## What VoxBot does

Live-stream chat moves quickly, and reading every message aloud yourself is not practical. VoxBot lets viewers use short chat commands to play text-to-speech (TTS) messages through your stream.

For example, a viewer can send:

```

VoxBot checks the command and your settings, creates the audio, and plays it through a browser source in your streaming software. You can use VoxBot with OBS Studio, Streamlabs Desktop, Meld, or other streaming software that supports browser sources.

Viewers do not need a VoxBot account. They use the normal chat for your connected Twitch, YouTube, Kick, TikTok, Rumble, Pump.fun, or Parti channel.

## How it works

The basic TTS flow has five parts:

1. Connect a streaming channel to your VoxBot account.
2. Choose the voices and chat commands that viewers can use.
3. Add the VoxBot browser source to your streaming software.
4. A viewer sends a command and message in your channel's chat.
5. VoxBot creates the voice audio and plays it on your stream.

Twitch and Kick chat can receive commands while your channel is offline, which makes them easy to test before a stream. Platforms such as YouTube need an active public live stream before VoxBot can receive live chat.

## What you can control

VoxBot gives you more than an on-or-off switch for TTS. You can:

* Choose from the default voices or add AI voices from the **Voice Library**.
* Create custom voices from your own audio samples with **Voice Cloning**.
* Change each voice command and decide whether all viewers, VIPs, subscribers, or moderators can use it.
* Set message limits, cooldowns, playback volume, and other stream-audio options.
* Use **TTS Moderation** to block unwanted words and messages.
* Review received chat messages and generated audio in **Message History**.
* Accept tips through a public tip page with options such as **Paid TTS**, **Media Share**, **Social Shoutout**, and **On-screen Text**.

Basic voices are free to use, with no card or trial required. Some AI voice, voice-cloning, and account features need Premium.

## Take a look at the dashboard

The **Overview** page gives you a quick view of your setup. The **Getting Started** card points to the tasks that prepare VoxBot for your first stream.

### Text-to-Speech

Open **Commands** to see the voices already added to your account. Each voice has a command, a permission setting, and a **Status** switch.

VoxBot starts with the basic `!tts` and `!tts1` commands. You can add more voices from the **Voice Library**, then change their commands to match the style of your channel.

### Tipping

VoxBot also gives your account a public tip page. In **Tip Configuration**, you can enable the tipping methods you want to use and set the amount and message limits for each one.

## Get to your first message

The quickest setup is:

1. [Create your VoxBot account](/getting-started/create-account.md).
2. Connect the streaming channel you want to use.
3. Add the TTS browser source to your streaming software.
4. Send a test message with `!tts`.

## FAQ
